Gus Mercado is a well-known business and community leader in Texas. While directing a fast-growing international Telecom/IT company (Datalogix), he served as Past Region President and State Executive Director of the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce. He has been a recipient of the Presidential BANAAG Award for Outstanding Business and Community Leadership, the highest award given by the Philippine government to an overseas Filipino leader, “TOFA (Twenty Outstanding Filipinos in America)” award from the Philippine Ambassador to the U.S.; and “Ten Most Outstanding Filipino Businessmen in the U.S.” from the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Chicago. He is Chairman/CEO of Datalogix in Texas and Silicon Valley, the only Filipino-owned and one of the fastest growing wireless telecom companies in the U.S. servicing cell sites that provide coverage to millions of users nationwide. His publishing and editorial experience includes Publisher/Editor of Business Horizons, an award-winning global business CEO magazine with circulation in 92 countries for 10 years. In school, he was a Presidential Scholar and Editor of the La Salle Commerce Journal, and Editor of their high school yearbook. Along with wife Philippine Consul Ethel Mercado he organizes and leads IT Trade and Investment Missions to the Philippines and Asia.
