Instructions for Taking Credit Card Payments for Ticket Sales with the Square Terminal

Setup

  1. Power On**: Turn on the Square Terminal by pressing the power button located on the side.

  2. Connect to Wi-Fi**:

    1. Tap on the settings icon.

    2. Select "Wi-Fi" and connect to the event's Wi-Fi network.

  3. Sign In:

    1. Open the Square app on the terminal.

    2. Sign in with your Square account credentials.

Processing a Sale

1. **Select Items**:

- On the home screen, tap on the ticket type the customer wants to purchase.

- Confirm the quantity and tap "Add to Sale."

2. **Review Sale**:

- Check the summary to ensure the correct items and amounts are listed.

- Tap "Charge."

Accepting Payments

1. **Swipe, Dip, or Tap**:

- For card swipes, swipe the card on the magnetic stripe reader.

- For chip cards, insert the card into the chip reader.

- For contactless payments (NFC), ask the customer to tap their card or mobile payment device on the terminal.

2. **Confirm Payment**:

- The terminal will process the payment.

- If prompted, the customer can add a tip and sign on the terminal.

Issuing Receipts

1. Print or Email:

- After the payment is processed, select "Print Receipt" or "Send Receipt."

- If emailing, enter the customer's email address.

End of Day

1. Close the Register:

- In the Square app, go to the "Reports" section.

- Tap "Close Register" to end the sales for the day.

2. Power Down:

- Press and hold the power button until the terminal turns off.
