A Culinary Triumph: Adobo Throwdown 3.0 Unites Texas in Celebration of Filipino Cuisine

Central to the success of this year’s event was the esteemed participation of Mama Sita’s, a beloved brand that has become synonymous with authentic Filipino flavors. As a major sponsor, Mama Sita’s played a pivotal role in infusing the event with rich, traditional tastes that resonate deeply with the Filipino community and beyond.

Attendees were thrilled to receive product samples from Mama Sita’s, offering them the chance to bring a genuine taste of the Philippines into their own kitchens. These products, revered for their authenticity, were also prominently featured by several vendors throughout the event, underscoring the brand’s integral connection to Filipino culinary traditions.

Adding to the excitement, Nancy Reyes Lumen, the self-proclaimed “Adobo Queen,” conducted four exclusive cooking demos that highlighted the versatility of Mama Sita's mixes and other products. Known for her expertise in Filipino cuisine, Nancy Reyes Lumen captivated the audience with her dynamic presentations and deep knowledge of adobo and other Filipino dishes. Her demonstrations not only inspired attendees but also underscored Mama Sita’s commitment to preserving and promoting Filipino culinary heritage.

The highlight of the weekend was the fiercely contested Professional Adobo Cooking Competition, where some of Texas' top chefs competed to win the coveted title. Congratulations to the winners who wowed both the judges and the crowd:

  • Art Relief Mobile Kitchen (ARMK), a volunteer group in the Philippines that provides hot meals to victims of natural disasters.

  • Broken Warriors Angels, a non-profit organization assisting veterans, particularly those impacted by homelessness.
