Adobo Throwdown Cooking Competition and Food Expo 3.0: A Culinary Celebration with a Heart

Schertz, TX –The Adobo Throwdown Cooking Competition and Food Expo, the premier event celebrating Filipino cuisine and culture in Texas, is thrilled to announce its return for its third edition on August 10-11, 2024, at the Schertz Civic Center. This year, the event takes a step further in its mission by supporting two remarkable organizations as its beneficiaries: Art Relief Mobile Kitchen and Broken Warriors’ Angels.

Art Relief Mobile Kitchen, a dedicated nonprofit organization in the Philippines, has set up community kitchens in ground zero of disaster areas to cook hot meals for victims of natural and man-made disasters in the Philippines. Their commitment to feeding the hungry during times of need exemplifies the spirit of community and resilience.

Broken Warriors’ Angels is a grassroots nonprofit organization based in San Antonio, Texas, focusing on aiding homeless and disabled veterans. By offering essential services such as food, shelter, and medical care, they address the urgent needs of veterans and their families, who represent a significant portion of the community they serve.

These organizations were carefully selected by the Humanitarian Programs Committee (headed by Dr. Danel Lapiz-Bluhm) of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce-Greater San Antonio, reflecting our event’s dedication to not only celebrating Filipino culinary heritage but also supporting meaningful causes that impact lives positively.

The Adobo Throwdown Cooking Competition and Food Expo 3.0 promises an unforgettable two-day experience, showcasing the richness of Filipino culture through food, music, and dance. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the fiery competition in the Chef's Arena, savor the unique flavors of both traditional and innovative Adobo dishes, and immerse themselves in the vibrant festivities that highlight the essence of Filipino traditions.

This event is proudly backed by the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce - Greater San Antonio, continuing the legacy of a celebration that began in 2019. From its humble beginnings to becoming a grand showcase, the Adobo Throwdown Cooking Competition and Food Expo has grown significantly, bringing together communities to share in the joy of Filipino cuisine.

We invite everyone to join us in making the 3.0 edition a landmark event that not only pays homage to the culinary excellence of the Filipino community but also contributes to worthy causes that make a difference. Together, let’s celebrate the heart and soul of Filipino cuisine and culture, creating lasting memories and a positive impact.
